All the used minivans on the market today have their legacy from the first ones that appeared in North America in 1984 as both Toyota and Chrysler launched this new line of vehicle. Toyota's minivan was called the Toyota Van while the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager came into being. In 1985 the Ford Aerostar, Chevrolet  Astro and the GMC Safari hit the streets.

It wasn't long before everyone jumped onto the minivan train and there was the Chevrolet Lumina, Oldsmobile Silhouette and Pontiac Trans Sport in 1990. Also, 1990 saw the Toyota Privia on sale.  In 1993 the Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest were introduced to the public. 1994 saw the launch  of the Ford Windstar and in 1995 the Honda Odyssey came  to market. The Kia Sedona and Hyundai Entourage are other minivans that were produced but made up less then 6% of the market share.

Since the beginning of the minivan in 1984 they have come a long way. Today's minivans are safer and more comfortable.
