Used Ford Freestar

The Ford Freestar was the replacement to the Ford Windstar and was in production from 2004 until 2006. One of the reasons for the change was that Ford decided to change all their vehicle names to begin with the letter F. The vehicle was still built in Canada as was the Windstar.

The Free star is a 7 passenger minivan along with a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. There were 5 trim levels available and offered two different V6 motors. It offered a 3.9 liter engine and a 4.2 liter, the smaller only being offered in the United States.

The freestar didn't last long and one of the big reasons is that the name change from Windstar killed the brand. The Windstar was a strong product line but with the name change it just didn't work. Along with large brake and transmission issues and what was considered a lack of refinement it all added up to much slower sales and Ford dropped the line in after the 2007 model release. The Ford Flex a full size  crossover was where Ford moved their minivan energy.
